As a trainer, I’ve talked to so many women who have busy lives because of their families. They don’t have time or energy because of life’s challenges, and their health ends up suffering because of it. They put on weight and can’t get it off. They get little sleep. They put their needs in the background to focus on others. Before I had a baby, I couldn’t understand. And even now, I still ain’t completely feeling it. (Though that sleep deprivation is real!)
My baby is 2 months old now. And he requires A LOT of attention. It is crazy. He cries, poops, slobbers, spits up, needs hugs, wants to eat, and MORE! This kid (and I’m sure all kids) is a handful. But I still can’t see completely subtracting ME because I added HIM. I had no qualms about changing my life. But in no way was I gonna COMPLETELY lose myself.
I just it helps the whole family when mom stays healthy, physically and mentally. How can you have a healthy family when you’re not healthy? Where would your children learn healthy behaviors? My child(ren) will see vitality, not disease and obesity.
I cannot imagine giving up working out. I’ve just added the baby to my workout. I strap him into his baby carrier and walk, squat, lunge, or do the stairs. Now that he’s big enough, he will be my running partner as I clock some mileage. It just takes a little creativity, but if you want to stay healthy and fit, you will. If you don’t, you won’t. It’s pretty simple.
