A recent conversations at the gym between me and this random guy that I see all the time, but don’t know his name:
Guy: Are you getting ready for a show?
Me: Yep. At the end of March.
Guy: Well, I just had 2 donuts last night. I should bring you some.
Me: Donuts really don’t tempt me and I am not even cravings sweets. Plus that isn’t allowed on my diet.
Guy: Oh, I can’t give up sweets!
Me: And that’s why you are not competing and I am!
Now most people are very supportive of what I have going on and cheering me along. And then there will be people like this who want to try my resolve. I remember last year there was this lady at Panera Bread who was always trying to tempt me with tasty pastry samples…that was challenging at that time, now I am stronger. I can now walk by Panera or through Whole Foods and not give the off-limits foods a second glance. (Crossing my fingers that my resolve stays this strong for the next 11 weeks.)
Last year, I had a different competition coach and she had “treats” built in. That was pretty awesome. It allowed me to have my Friday night pizza nights and ice cream once a week. This time around, I have a different coach and my diet is strictly vegan. Not eating dairy ice cream isn’t that big of a deal, but I miss my vegan pizzas that I had come to enjoy on Fridays. (le sigh) My coach says that he doesn’t believe in cheat meals and that each day counts…sigh. BUT if I need a cheat that I could have a couple of small pieces of vegan chocolate…SCORE! I haven’t had any chocolate, but it is good to know that I could if the jones gets to strong. I do plan to take his advice and make each day count. I have less than 3 months now 🙂
