Food Vs. Crap

If you have trained your body to love and live off of junk food, of course real food is gonna taste weird. People are so used to eating highly processed and refined foods loaded with chemicals, preservatives, steroids, pesticides, and hormones, that when they eat the food in its unadulterated state, it is unrecognizable. Maybe all of those toxins and chemicals are effecting your taste buds and what you are craving? Maybe you just have to rid your body of the crap and retrain your taste buds? Maybe with a diet shift you could learn to like actual food? It is worth a try!

There is a terrible misconception that healthy food isn’t good. Healthy people like food too! We just like it without the extras. And there are so many ways to prepare foods so that you can have just about any typically unhealthy dish in a healthier way. I just sense an apprehension in people to change their behaviors. And they cling to their traditions and favorites like a secirity blanket. However without some kind of change, our communities collective health will continue to deteriorate.

A few suggestions to starting down a healthier path:

  • Do a raw fruit and vegetable fast. Give your taste buds a chance to heal so that you can better experience real food again.
  • Try 1 new healthy meal a week. Do a spin on a favorite dish.
  • Recognize that you may have to let go of your comfort foods.
  • Know that there are so many wonderful real food options. You just have to be willing to try them.
  • Do not go into the process thinking you will hate stuff…because then of course you will hate it!
  • GET CREATIVE!! This isn’t rocket science, but you have to give it some effort!
