I am sure that the McDonald’s brothers were not thinking about how they could destroy the health of the world when they started their restaurant. They just wanted to give families quick access to burgers and fries. And man, did they do that. And though McD’s did not invent “fast food,” it was definitely integral in spreading the concept and enticing other fast food restaurants to come along.
I do not believe that McD’s alone is the reason for our society’s health epidemic, but I believe that it is a big contributor. In times before fast food, families actually cooked real food, had meals together, and had one person portioned meals. And now thanks to this corporation we grab “food” on the go and eat in our cars and at all hours of the day or night. We consume tons of fillers, chemicals, meat-like substances, and fat and sugar. And let us not forget the introduction of supersizing meals. So now people could get tons of cheaply made, terrible for you calories at a cheap price. YUM!
McD’s is not entirely at fault for our declining health. It is just a seemingly innocent place that people CHOOSE willingly of their own free will. No one forces anyone to eat crappy food or feed crappy food to their families. McD’s just creates the temptation. They have such a happy and bright ambience. Their marketing and expansion team is outstanding. And HELLO….Ronald McDonald and Happy Meals with toys!! The ultimate kid magnets! These factors plus an ever busy and fast paced society makes the perfect equation for 1.6 billion overweight and obese unhealthy people world-wide. Thanks McDonalds!
Have you ever looked at the ingredients list of McDonalds “food” items? I have. It is crazy. You would think that something as simple as eggs would just include eggs and maybe salt and pepper…not so much. Look it up yourself and see. These “foods” that people are eating are laboratory experiments which happen to be edible created to streamline production and make it cheaply. This is why this crap is so cheap…IT AIN’T FOOD! How can a $1 burger possibly be good for you?! I’m just saying. Even before I became more health conscious and a trainer I quit eating this stuff. But now I see this restaurant with new eyes. I see the lethargic, fat kids. I see the poor and overweight unhealthy families. I see the whole destruction of our people’s health. And I see McD’s as a symbol of why this is happening. Parents and people obviously have the ultimate responsibility to choose food, learn to cook, and eat real food. But this devil of a restaurant makes crappy food very tempting…not to me though. Y’all can have my share.
