Eat, sleep, train…REPEAT! Eat, sleep, train…REPEAT! That is my life right now as I prep for this figure competition. I can definitely say I have tunnel vision, with a slight detour here and there. I have made the decision to put most everything else on hold as I prep…I don’t get out very often, (like never), I hardly talk on the phone, I am scared to go out dancing (for fear that alcohol and bar food may attack me), and all social events (including birthdays and weddings) need to be re-scheduled. I am usually tired, hungry, or both and guess what..I FEEL GREAT!
I embarked on this journey of free will. And I am that type of person that once I decide to do something, it is good as done…I will figure out the details and game plan later. I personally am not a fan of failure, so I don’t declare anything until I am ready to give it my all. I also don’t lie to or give up on myself. What separates me (and others like me) from the pack is that WE hold OURSELVES to a higher standard. Some folks would absolutely give up after that first week of calorie/sugar/carb reduction and increased cardio and training sessions. They will give up just as soon as there is a party invite or a happy hour after work. They will throw their hands up and say, “EFF THIS!” when the hunger becomes too much. Now real fighters; the ones that are determined to be successful no matter what; the ones that understand SACRIFICE; the ones that are tired but keep pushing, are the ones that win races/championships/the deal at work/place in a figure competition. Not everybody can win because MOST people are not willing to put in the effort. YOU can be successful and accomplish whatever you decide, but you have to have the mental strength to push through it. Sometimes you need pure muscle strength, sometimes you need endurance, but most times you need a strong mind to handle the trying times. Do you have what it takes to make IT happen? I know I am gonna touch some nerves with this straight talk approach I am taking…but I want successful people around me, even if y’all are virtual 😉
